Prince de Galles, a Luxury Collection Hotel

Hotel description

In the heart of Paris and just a few steps from the Champs Elysees and the Arc de Triomphe, the Prince de Galles, Paris is a part of the history of the French capital. The luxury hotel was opened in September 1928 in honor of the legendary World Exhibition of Decorative and Industrial Arts, which took place in Paris in 1925 and marked the beginning of the Art Deco movement.

The architect Arfvidson, inspired by the exhibition and the new direction, created the design of the hotel, and the Art Deco style became his calling card. The Prince de Galles, Paris was built from stones from the Chaillot quarry, which were used in the construction of the foundations of the Arc de Triomphe, and the magnificent classical façade of the building is complemented by a unique mosaic patio. The name of the hotel is directly related to its purpose: Edward VII, the future Prince of Wales and son of the English King George V, stayed here during his visits to Paris. Over the years, the hotel has also hosted many other world celebrities – from Winston Churchill and Chamberlain to Marlene Dietrich, Gina Lollobrigida and Elvis Presley. Today, the hotel has preserved its long-standing traditions and a special atmosphere of refined chic in the Art Deco style, which reigns in elegant rooms with ultra-modern equipment, in a gastronomic restaurant with a patio decorated with exotic plants, and in a stylish bar.
