The hotel is located on the French Riviera in Cap Ferrat between Monaco and Nice. The hotel building was erected in 1946 and was owned for a long time by Captain Powell and his family. At that time, the hotel contained 25 rooms and only 5 bathrooms, and for many years it was used mainly for weddings and other celebrations. In 1965, the hotel passed into the ownership of Jean Lorenzi, who set himself the task of making it the most striking pearl on the French Riviera. When La Voile d’Or opened its doors after a grandiose restoration, it captivated guests with its elegant simplicity and ornate style. The hotel is located on a private peninsula and is surrounded by water on all sides.
The incomparable view of the boundless Mediterranean and the overwhelming peaks of the Alps is complemented by yachts, sailboats and boats, creating a feeling of endless space and absolute harmony with the surrounding world, in the words of Jean Cocteau, an extraordinary unity "cheek to cheek with the sea".
