New tourism tax on Langkawi (Malaysia)

1 July Oh. Langkawi (Malaysia) introduces a tourist tax. The new tax (Tourism Promotional Fee) would be 5 Malaysian ringgit (about US$ 1.2) per night. As explained in the travel office Malaysiathe fees will be charged to all tourists living in hotels and guest houses in the island. The amount will be charged to tourists by hotel management directly upon eviction.
