Holidays in Basel Zoo
Basel Zoo (ZOO BASEL), the first zoo in Switzerland, opened in 1874 and today is the most beautiful and fascinating zoo in Europe. Around 6,000 different animals inhabit 12 hectares of magnificent parkland in the city center; the zoo welcomes around a million visitors each year, making it the second most visited attraction in Switzerland (after the Rhine Falls).
In the African Park, you'll see hippos, ostriches, and zebras living together. The Antelope Pavilion is home to giraffes, okapis, and small East African kudu. The Australian Pavilion is dedicated to reproduction, where you'll learn about the reproductive strategies of marsupials, birds, insects, spiders, reptiles, and amphibians. The Etosha Pavilion is dedicated to predators: lions, cheetahs, and many others!
At the zoo, you'll also encounter rhinos, elephants, snow leopards, and more!
