Hot springs and dormant volcanoes, ancient glaciers and green pastures...
Iceland is a country of pristine natural beauty, where the echoes of Viking chants still seem to echo. This is a unique place, the likes of which do not exist anywhere else in the world! Here, on a small island of 103,000 square kilometers, a multifaceted collection of impressive attractions is gathered together. Where else on earth can you scuba dive in the crystal clear glacial waters of a gorge in a lake located at the junction of two lithospheric plates? Or descend into the very heart of a volcano?

Such expressive landscapes were created by the powerful forces of nature itself. Spectacular "lunar" deserts, impressive waterfalls, formidable volcanoes, geothermal springs and magical ice caves tease the imagination of many a Hollywood producer. Iceland's magical appeal comes from its very essence, steeped in folklore about elves, fairies and trolls.

Iceland is Europe's best place for whale watching. Humpback whales, minke whales and the largest of all, blue whales, are frequent visitors to the glacial waters here. You can also get back to nature by galloping across the country's fields and black beaches on Icelandic horses. The unique local breed of horse is small in stature, stocky, intelligent and, most importantly, able to perform five types of gait (in addition to the traditional walk, trot, gallop and amble, they have a specific tölt).

More than 30 active volcanoes feed countless bubbling hot springs and geothermal springs. Wise and enterprising Icelanders have adapted this powerful geothermal force not only to generate environmentally friendly energy in their homes, but also used it for relaxation and recreation in natural outdoor pools and saunas.
