Bespoke Journeys Through Jordan
Jordan combines ancient cities, desert landscapes and stays beside two seas. A classic itinerary includes Amman, Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea. Jerash, Madaba, Mount Nebo, the Dana Biosphere Reserve or a few days in Aqaba can also be added.
Distances make it practical to explore Jordan by car with a driver. The order of stops depends on the length of the journey, season and selected hotels.
Amman, Jerash and the King’s Highway
Amman is a convenient starting or finishing point. From the capital, travellers can visit the Roman ruins of Jerash, the mosaics of Madaba and Mount Nebo.
Petra can be reached by the faster Desert Highway or the King’s Highway, which passes historical sites and panoramic viewpoints but requires more time.
Exploring Petra
At least one full day should be reserved for Petra. The main route follows the Siq to the Treasury and can continue towards the Monastery, known as Ad Deir, and other Nabataean sites.
An expert guide can adapt the route to the guests’ interests and fitness level. When selecting a hotel, important factors include its distance from the entrance, room standards and convenient vehicle access.
Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea
One or two nights can be spent in a desert camp in Wadi Rum. Experiences include drives among the rock formations, guided walks and stargazing. Camps vary considerably in location, room facilities and service.
After an active itinerary, the Dead Sea works well for a few days of rest. Leading resorts offer direct beach access, swimming pools and wellness facilities.
Aqaba and the Best Time to Travel
Aqaba is suitable for Red Sea holidays, snorkelling and diving. It can be added after Petra and Wadi Rum or used as the final stop of the journey.
Spring and autumn offer the most comfortable conditions for cultural routes and desert activities. Winter evenings in Petra and Wadi Rum can be cold, while summer heat makes longer walks more demanding.
