Dubrovnik is the pearl of the Adriatic, one of the most beautiful cities in the Mediterranean. "Whoever seeks paradise on earth must visit Dubrovnik," - this is how the great Bernard Shaw assessed this amazing city. This city, founded in the 7th century, is located in the southern part of Croatia. Being the center of the district of the same name, it is one of the most famous tourist centers of the Dubrovnik Riviera.
"Dubrovnik and its surroundings have the cleanest sea of the entire Adriatic," - said Jacques Yves Cousteau. Every street, square, church of the city surrounded by stone walls recalls the glorious days of the Dubrovnik Republic. In combination with the clean sea, rich vegetation and ideal climate, Dubrovnik offers ample opportunities for a pleasant holiday.
Dubrovnik was originally a fortress built in the 12th century on one of the few flat areas. Both the fortress and the old town have been preserved. Throughout its history, the city was never plundered and after an earthquake in the 14th century it was rebuilt according to old plans, so the age and atmosphere of this beautiful city cause respect.

Attractions:

The city of Dubrovnik is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage List as one of the best examples of world culture. It has many ancient buildings.

For example, the convent of St. Clara. Here, tourists pay attention to the 'lucky stone' - it is about 500 years old. Once it helped two lovers, a young nun and a sea captain, to escape. After the first attempt, the lovers were captured. The nun was locked in the convent, and the captain - in prison. In the convent, the girl accidentally found an unusual stone and read a prayer... And a miracle happened - the lovers had the opportunity to escape for the second time. They were lucky, and the 'lucky stone' has kept this touching legend ever since!

The treasury of the republic contains great paintings by Raphael and Titian, 200 sacred relics in silver and gold, and one of two parts of the Holy Cross in Europe.

It is interesting to look at the oldest in Europe, a pharmacy containing unique instruments, gifts of the healed, holy relics, as well as rarities and books - parchment and written on paper yellowed by time.

Tourists will also see the prince's palace, which was not damaged by the earthquake. The prince was elected from the members of the republic's board for a month and settled in this palace, where no one close to him, not even his own wife, was allowed to see him during his reign. The inscription is carved above the entrance to the palace: 'Forget personal matters, think about the state'.

Dubrovnik hosts a world-famous festival of music, drama and dance, the stage for which is the ancient Lovrijenac Palace, where Shakespeare's dramas and tragedies are staged. Beautiful halls await those who love classical music, and a majestic organ will sound in the spacious old cathedral.

Accommodation:

There are no problems with housing in Dubrovnik. There are many hotels for every taste and budget. Rich tourists will be gladly greeted by the magnificent five-star hotel 'Elsinore', where everything is luxurious: huge comfortable rooms, high level of service and everything that is necessary for the most demanding and loving comfort and luxury people.

Three-star hotels offer rooms with double beds, air conditioning, refrigerator, TV and mini-bar filled with drinks.
It should be noted that the first hotel in Dubrovnik appeared in the 16th century. And in the 19th century, hotels were already built specifically for tourists coming to visit magnificent Croatia.

Leisure and entertainment:

Small cafes and restaurants are scattered throughout the city, here you can relax during the day and have fun in the evening.

Walking along the fortress wall, you can see the old city and the sea of lights from above.

10 km from Dubrovnik is the popular resort of Cavtat (Kavtat) with many ancient ruins, as well as the Chapel of St. Roka (mausoleum of the Račić family), the Prince's Palace, in which is home to a wonderful museum, the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, a Franciscan monastery and a beautiful promenade.

5 km northwest of Dubrovnik lies the magnificent green island of Kolocep - one of the best resorts on the southern coast, as well as the island of Lokrum with a botanical garden, a Benedictine monastery and nudist beaches. 10 km south of Dubrovnik, at the foot of the mountain Spilan, lies the cozy town of Mlini, rich in historical monuments, with sandy beaches and clean bays - one of the best resorts in the Dubrovnik region.
