Holidays in Tsavo National Natural Park
The Tsavo National Natural Park is located 290 kilometres from Nairobi (at 4 hours from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport) and 210 kilometres from Mombasa (at 3 hours from Mombasa Moi International Airport). The park was opened in 1948 and is one of the world ' s largest reserves (20,000 square kilometres). The Landscapt Tsavo is very diverse: it is rocky mountains and highs, savannah and seldom, where acations, ancient beans and exotic desert roses, as well as lakes and mountain rivers that are perfect for rafting.
As between the two largest cities in Kenya, Tsavo is divided by the Nairobi-Mombasa railway into two parts: West (9000 square kilometres) and East Tsaw (11,000 square kilometres). Most of East Tsaw occupies the Yatta hill, a 300-kilometre stack of lava. In the West Tsaw, there is a Ngulya mountain and the volcanic elevation of Idavia, created by the Greater African Stock.
The world is diverse: more than 60 mammals and 400 bird species. There are leopards, hepards, boilers, giraffes, various types of anti-pockets, water-boats, zebras, lions and crocodiles. Tsavo has acquired world famous because of a huge herd of elephants and many nosorogs. The head of the nosorhogs has now fallen significantly and a special Ngulia reserve has been established to preserve the species. In Tsaw, you can see a funny sight: to protect against berries, the elephants pour themselves into water from lemons or water bodies and land. The bottom of the park has a special shade, making the animal skin red and orange.
The legendary railway of Kenya-Uganda is passing through this area, with a history of the Tsavo Lions, hunting road builders and killing over 100 people. Those times have passed, and now the park is safe. Rest in Tsavo is a comfortable combination with rest on the coast of Mombasa.
Souvenir shops can purchase jewellery, national clothing and headbears of tribes living in Tsavo, carpets and zinov, original cell baskets, rubber interior and ritual masks.
