Hotel description
More than a thousand years ago, the city of Galle was one of the largest ports and the center of world trade, where Persian, Chinese and Arab merchants sailed. Many monuments of Portuguese colonization and a Capuchin monastery have survived to this day. Later, a fort with massive fortifications was built here, and the width of the fortress walls reaches 20 meters.
In 1988, this fort was included in the list of historical and cultural heritage of UNESCO. The Amangalla Hotel is located on its territory. The luxurious Amangalla Hotel is a great base for exploring the history of the ancient city of Galle during your Sri Lanka tour, as well as the exotic nature of this amazing island. During the reconstruction of the fort, designers and architects preserved the historical monuments and the atmosphere of the colonial past, which is conveyed in the interiors of many of the rooms.
The villas located in the garden, served by a personal butler, have a spacious terrace.
Each room has a separate bedroom with a king-size four-poster bed, a living room with a desk, a chaise longue, a dining table, a bathroom with a free-standing bath, two sinks, a separate shower / toilet, a sound system, a safe, a personal bar, Wi-Fi.
Extending to 80 square metres (861 square feet), the Amangalla Suites overlook the fort ramparts and harbour through the leaves of Para Mara trees. Retaining the character of the original hotel which has welcomed guests for over 150 years, the bedroom has a four-poster king-sized bed alongside a living room with a writing desk, chaise lounge and a dining table. Arched and shuttered windows allow natural light to flood the space.
