The Lindis Lodge is a secluded luxury lodge in the Ahuriri Valley on New Zealand’s South Island, designed around an immersive connection with the surrounding landscape. Shaped over millions of years by the glacial waters of the Ahuriri River, the valley combines rugged mountains, wetlands, tussock lands and beech forests. The lodge is located on the more than 6,500-acre Ben Avon Station, close to the vast Ahuriri Conservation Park, which extends across more than 49,000 hectares.

The architecture of The Lindis Lodge is deliberately integrated into its natural setting, resting almost imperceptibly on the valley floor and allowing the landscape to remain the defining element of the experience. Its concept brings together contemporary comfort, distinctive New Zealand high-country hospitality, locally inspired cuisine and experiences rooted in the surrounding wilderness. Expansive views across the Ahuriri Valley enhance the sense of privacy and connection to the land.

The culinary approach centres on refined contemporary New Zealand cuisine prepared with seasonal ingredients that are locally sourced, sustainably caught and harvested from the garden. Experiences reflect the character of the high country and include world-class fly-fishing, horse trekking and stargazing beneath exceptionally dark skies. The Lindis Lodge has been awarded Two MICHELIN Keys by the MICHELIN Guide in recognition of exceptional stays.

Accommodation at The Lindis Lodge

Accommodation at The Lindis Lodge comprises eight units across three categories: two Master Suites, three Lodge Suites and three separate Pods. The Master Suites and Lodge Suites are designed around expansive valley views, combining generous space, comfort and contemporary luxury. Their different vantage points allow guests to experience the surrounding landscape from varying perspectives and make the Ahuriri Valley a defining part of the accommodation experience. The three Pods are positioned only a short distance from the Main Lodge but offer a more intimate style of stay. They are conceived as architecturally striking spaces with a strong connection to their natural surroundings. Guests can therefore choose between accommodation within the principal lodge and the more secluded character of the standalone Pods.

Located within the Main Lodge, our two Master Suites are the most generously proportioned of our accommodations. With expansive views across the valley and a variety of vantage points, each suite blends space, comfort and modern luxury.

Unwind by the double-sided gas fireplace, soak in the deep bathtub, or take in the landscape from your spacious private outdoor seating area. Each suite features a super king-size bed, with thoughtfully selected furnishings, luxury linens, and amenities.

Out of sight yet just a stone’s throw from the Main Lodge, these architecturally designed Pods offer the ultimate in privacy and seclusion. With mirrored glass walls on three sides and an outdoor bath, they place the environment firmly at the forefront and invite guests to experience the valley’s ever-changing beauty in its most nuanced forms. Watch the sun light up the valley from the king-size bed, soak beneath the stars, or simply sit in stillness as the landscape shifts.

The Lindis Lodge is located in the Ahuriri Valley near Omarama on New Zealand’s South Island, at 1490 Birchwood Road. The lodge can be reached by vehicle or helicopter, with the reservations team available to assist with travel planning and transfers. Queenstown Airport and Christchurch Airport are listed for access to the property.
