In 240 kilometres from Harare, one of the most famous and mysterious ancient African monuments, the Greater Zimbabwe, is located. This town was founded in the year 1200, the city ' s inhabitants (one of African tribes) reached an unusually high level of civilization. They have developed close links with India, China, the Gulf countries, mainly through gold trade. However, by the beginning of the sixteenth century, the population had fled the city and new settlements had been formed north and south of the ancient capital. The reasons for the fall in Greater Zimbabwe are still a mystery to historians. The location of the city has long been unknown, and only 1869 in the depth of the African continent found the ruins of this mysterious ancient city.
