Vientiane (local name - Viengchan) - the capital and residence of the Lao Government - a rather inviolable and handsome city with many interesting temples and living markets.
In 1563, King Setatirat turned this once unknown village into the capital of Lang Sang. In 1827, Vientiane was captured by the Syrian army and almost completely destroyed. For decades, the city had been lying in ruins until the French colonizers had rebuilt and, more accurately, rebuilt. At the same time, the French have tried to preserve the national colony of the city, and it has acquired the features of an architecture with well-known Thai and Lao elements.
The main Vientiane market is Talaat Sao. You can buy different Lao souvenirs from a tree, silk tissue, silver.
The That Luang Square holds regular holidays and various sports events.
