Holidays in Luangprabang
Luangphabang is the ancient capital of Laos, the former 800 years old was the capital of the largest Principality in the region, Lan Sang, and then the whole Kingdom of Lao.
The city received its timely name in the middle of the fourteenth century, in honour of the gold statue of Buddha-Phabang and the words " Luang " - " Queen " .
The city is known as the country ' s largest cultural and historical centre on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1995, as the most beautiful city of Laos and the centre of one of the country ' s most populous regions.
In the city, many monasteries and temples of the period between the sixteenth and twentieth centuries (66 pagodas, 32 of which were well maintained until our time), unique art gatherings and the most valuable cultural heritage of the country. The main features include the Royal Monastery of Wat Sieng Thong or the Golden Temples, the Wat May Temples, Wat Visunalat and Wat Thatluang.
