The Shigiria (Live Mountain) is a lonely mountain, rising above the dried jungle of the adjacent plain of 180 metres, on the top of which the unique royal palace of Kassapa was built in V.N.
In V, N. Kassap, King Dutusen ' s eldest son, had to inherit the throne, but his father decided in favour of the young son of Mogallan. Cassapa raised his hatred for his father and entered him in the darkness, and in 477, he was killed. Mogallan was terrified of the scary actions of his older brother and fled South India. In fear of revenge, Kassap decided to build a capital in a difficult place. And he chose the Sigiria rock.
The King and his architects cleared the place around the rock and built a magnificent city surrounded by gardens with fountains and pools and built the most amazing staircases in the world: the stairs were cut between the legs, the throats and the jaws of the unbelievable size of the lion, and the walls were decorated by the fres (all 500), of which 18 were well.
Freights that portray the Princess process or palace ladies as steaming in the air, and covered by the egg squirrel with the honey bees, kept their bright colours.
Sigria's underground, not the triple ring of ancient defensive vomits and royalty, has scattered beautiful water gardens, ancient in Asia. There is also a Buddhist Mahayan sect monastery, including cave temples, meditation halls, colored gardens and water bodies.
The Sigiri ' s rubberies (colonial sculptures, dozens of terrace and staircases, walls and deep basins) were found in the middle of the nineteenth century by an English hunter. Restoration work is under way. The memory is under the protection of UNESCO and is rightly considered to be one of the wonders of the world!
